VRU Equipment Supply Scope

A clear supply scope helps the buyer compare quotations and prevents gaps between the equipment vendor, EPC contractor and site team. The final scope is defined by the process design, approved drawings and purchase specification.

Packaged VRU equipment combines recovery process, controls and safety interfaces for site installation.

Typical vendor supply

Process equipment	Knockout, condenser, adsorption beds, absorber, compressor, vacuum package, pumps or other selected equipment.
Piping and valves	Skid piping, process valves, drains, vents, instruments and defined battery-limit connections.
Controls	Control panel, PLC or interface equipment, instruments, analyzer connections and shutdown signals.
Mechanical support	Skid frame, platforms, ladders, lifting points, nameplates and equipment identification.
Documents	Data sheets, equipment list, PFD/P&ID support, GA drawing, manuals, inspection records and test documents.

Foundations, civil work and access roads
Incoming power, instrument air, cooling or refrigeration utilities
Vapor-header and recovered-product tie-ins
Drain, vent, flare or approved receiving-system connections
Local permits, installation labor and site lifting
Commissioning support, operator training and spare-parts responsibilities

Testing and delivery

The purchase specification should identify inspection points, pressure or leak testing, electrical checks, instrument calibration, factory acceptance testing, packing, preservation, shipping documents and the information required for site installation.

What to include in an RFQ

Include gas composition, flow cases, pressure and temperature, equipment location, hazardous-area classification, design standards, utilities, battery limits, delivery location, documentation requirements, inspection requirements and target schedule.

The words “complete system” are not enough for a technical quotation. The RFQ should list what the vendor supplies, what the site supplies and where each interface stops.
