Industrial vapor recovery and air pollution control equipment background

Gasoline Vapor Recovery for Truck Loading | VRU Application

Truck loading creates short, high-flow vapor events as liquid displaces vapor from the vehicle compartment. The system must capture the vapor at the loading connection, maintain safe pressure, manage liquid carryover and handle the peak flow from simultaneous loading bays.

Truck loading rack vapor recovery depends on peak loading flow, vapor return and safe interlocks.

Key loading-rack inputs

  • Loading rate for each bay and maximum simultaneous bays
  • Product type, vapor composition, vapor pressure and temperature
  • Vapor return-line size, length, pressure drop and connection arrangement
  • Loading sequence, product switching and recovery destination
  • Liquid carryover, overfill protection, grounding and emergency shutdown

Condensation + adsorption or adsorption + absorption?

Condensation + adsorption can recover condensable hydrocarbons and polish the cold-gas residue. Adsorption + absorption can be considered when the vapor concentration varies and an absorbent can selectively capture the target hydrocarbon. The choice must be confirmed with gas analysis, peak-flow data and a safety review.

Controls and protection

Typical control functions include loading permissives, vapor-line pressure monitoring, high-level shutdown, knockout or liquid separation, flame protection, LEL monitoring, emergency isolation, bypass management and status communication with the loading system. Final interlocks depend on the site risk assessment and applicable standards.

What should a buyer request?

Ask for the design flow envelope, pressure range, recovery target, utility list, hazardous-area classification, control philosophy, maintenance plan, spare-parts list and a clear statement of which performance values are typical versus guaranteed.
