20,000 m³/h RTO VOC Treatment Project

This project demonstrates a 20,000 m³/h regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) treatment system for VOC emissions from a chemical production facility.

Project Scope

  • Application: chemical manufacturing VOC control
  • Airflow: 20,000 m³/h
  • Technology: regenerative thermal oxidation
  • Scope: process connection, RTO equipment, controls, commissioning and on-site installation

Why This Configuration

RTO technology is suitable for stable, high-volume VOC streams where thermal destruction, heat recovery and continuous operation are required. Final equipment selection depends on VOC composition, concentration, temperature, dust and operating schedule.

Design Basis

A 20,000 m3/h RTO is typically evaluated on three parameters: design flow with peak factor, minimum autothermal (self-sustaining) concentration, and required destruction efficiency – 95%, 98% or 99%+ depending on the permit.

System Composition

The package includes the RTO body with ceramic media beds, switching valve assembly, combustion system, fresh-air and bypass dampers, PLC control with safety interlocks, and optional heat recovery for process use downstream.

Operating Notes

Purge cycles prevent mixing losses during valve switches. Monitoring bed temperatures and inlet LEL keeps operation inside safe limits; annual inspection covers ceramic media condition and valve sealing surfaces.
